Rockhounding has been something in the family going back now at least 4 generations. Mailand Sr's Father was the first Jeweller in the Vancouver/Camas area in the late 1800's. Mailand worked during the Depression Era as a mineral and mine surveyor which led him all over the PNW and nearby where he and his wife looked for materials of their own as well!
This was passed down to Mailand Jr (Lee) and the to the rest of the family.
